so I have come down with a little cold this weekend. sore throat, head/body ache, stuffed up nose, the general stuff. so in an attempt to make myself feel better I have eating fresh veggies, smoking a little pot and sipping on sherry wine. the wine helps to sooth the throat and..uh...relieve my body ache. so I was wondering what everyone else does for themselves when they are sick?

i have lots of baths to soothe my aching bones, about 3 a day really hot too. my mum used to know i was sick when i was wee cos i'd start wanting loads of baths. my current micro-flat in london has only a shower which is really annoying.

whenever I'm really ill, especially with migraines, which I suffer from, I find it best just to sleep it off, although I'm sure my work wouldn't agree with me, they'd rather I worked it off.

Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables...

However if I feel really bad the best I can normally manage is fruit.. Veg take too much effort if you can't stand up without feeling dizzy...

At this point a sympathetic partner or flatmate is what you need ;)

I always try and watch my favourite Comedy shows or films.. laughter sorts you out.

i suffered from toncilitis quite abit this year. I found myself eating lots of veggies, vitamin c and garlic in food. Try adding salt in a glass of warm water, then pour it in to the palm of your hand and snort it. It clears all the shit out, and good for sore throats.

plenty of bed-rest, radox baths & hot honey & lemon (with rum) usually helps when I've got a cold... and yes, having someone to run around after you can be of great help too ;)

Fresh Chillis, Garlic, Cumin, Ginger, Garam Masala, Turmeric, Lime and lots of strong spices in your food works well. I eat lots of fiery curries and spicy noodles to work through a cold. It needs to be steamy enough to make your eyes water to work properly.

Take out Chinese Hot and Sour soup or Thai Tam Yum soup is great if you are too fecked to cook or don't have a friend to do it.

Guinness and lots of fruit and fruit juics helps too! God help the poor toilet though :)

Oh yeah spicy Thai soup is great. You can get Tom Yam and Tom Kha (my favourite - coconut milk, chilli & lemongrass soup) in cans in oriental supermarkets... get a tin of straw mushrooms and chuck them in.

Guiness with a shot of Tia Maria in is an incredibly soothing drink... and bananas are the easiest eating there is... tons of vitamins in bananas... I once heard that you can get all the nutrients you need to survive from a combination of Guinness, bananas and oily fish. Imagine that whipped up into a smoothie - that'd sort you RIGHT out.

If you have a juicer, and can be arsed with chopping up veg, that'll do you loads of good too. My patent health drink, which is absolutely delicious too, is apples, carrots, fennel, yellow peppers and ginger... made a nice one today as well out of apples, cucumber, celery and a big bunch of basil. I generally make a couple of litres (about 8-10 apples + the veg), bottle it and stick it in the fridge.

Add grated root ginger, fresh lemon juice and honey to 1/2 pint of boiling water in a pint mug. Add 1/2 pint of brandy. Fucking sorted.

This boy and a paedophile walk into the woods, the boy says "I'm afarid of the dark" and the paedophile says" Your afraid of the dark? I need to walk out here on my own!!!"

For getting over a cold:

Eat the hottest curry you can stand.
Get in the hottest bath you can stand.
Go to bed and sleep under as many duvets as you can muster.

The next morning you should have sweated out any offending germs. On another tip, I recently cured my hideous bitten-mouth post-party rankness in record time, by drinking lime juice in sparkling water.

Curl up in a bed with a hot water bottle and feel shit for myself always does the trick.
