So... is Mister Empire going to cross over big time in the next year? I think Intelligence And Sacrifice is such an accessible album in these noisy times... and it won the "Spirit Of Independence" award at the Kerranngg awards the other week. Seeing as Kerrangg is now the biggest music weekly in the UK (bigger than the NME), this is not insignificant. Let us hold Alec on our shoulders and make him be the new Iggy, or something.

@v knid

forgot which song but apparently nike amongst other has tried extensively to license one atari teenage riot song for some commercial, and it never happened...

addicted to you is fawking good though, and seems to possess a real pop appeal - at least everyone I know including my mother digs the song...

MUX - No joke... My friend at DHR is still nursing the hangover from celebrating that one. Alec was just about the only non-american to win an award, mind - the rest was all dross like Puddle Of Mudd & Offspring.

only in a european magazine would the offspring win an award! fucking hilarious!

true. wasnt green day enough for them, that a band has to go ten shades more pop punk...

i really like kerrang. in my youth my mate worked for metal hammer and so i always assumed that was a superior read. but recently i picked it up as the hives had done a "back to mine" cover mount and they put new rose (the damned) and bobby conn tracks on, then in the mag there was a history of faith no more and an interview with steve albini. so i sometimes read it now.

i cant actually read most british style or music magazine as they make me feel sick to my stomach. the only one i really love is Mojo but that's because i am a right sad case. i read the wire. i used to love the NME so much, but it now makes me too unhappy to read it. i dont think they intend it for people like me to read anyway...the only english language dance music mag worth its salt is XLR8R i reckon, although i like seven / update for news.

rock is back. and it seems like it here to stay.
i think it went thru a really bad phaze at some point. and turned it into shit.. almost kids stuff mtv-based.
who should be blamed?
Limp Bizkit? Korn? Green day?
dont know about this stuff myself... but when i was 16 i always heard intelligent stuff, like Machine head and Pantera. are they really musically mature then todays bands?
like i would easily pass on a green day cd to a little sister or cousin but until they get into some older and meaning stuff, they wont respect music to the full.
i started respecting music ( rock ) to the full, when somebody gave a me a Led Zepplin tape, then after a couple of months i got a hendrix tape.. then i watched the woodstock video, and have loved rock ever since.
so do u all thing it's true? was old pyskadelic rock a whole new musical revolution? can we match there status today? would we look back on techno in 20 years and remeber names and faces? would we all cring if someone dropped ' knights of the jaguar' as we do when u hear ' eye of the tiger' today?

Mixmag used to be good way back in the day (very early 90's) but it's truly awful now. That and Muzik are like the 'Hello! of Dance Music" (as quoted by Monsieur Garnier many moons ago).

Jockey Slut was good for a while but I find (especially in dance music) that all the magazines report on the same articles and the same articles are repeated over and over again.

I don't bother with any mags now apart from nicking my girlfriends when I'm bored.

Thank god for the World Wide Wank.

yeah they do need to cut down on the adverts, but as i assume that adverts are the real money.. not the sales
