I hear there is a free party going down somewhere in or around Edinburgh. Hope they sort out some heat so we don't freeze our arse off in the freezing Scotish winter.

This is quite an attractive option at the moment. Maybe the fact I'll be turning 30 5 days earlier has something to do with it (don't think so though).

Still, I expect I'll end up getting blotto and pissing my pants somewhere.

Lack of money, or anywhere to go, will most likely prevent too many revelries this year. Maybe an early night, just so I can act smug around all those with hangovers.

no idea what i'll be up to. hopefully the madagascar institute in nyc will throw one of their crazy art parties (they build huge insane sculptures that you can ride - check www.matagascarinstitute.com). if not, i want to get the hell out of nyc.

in fact... why don't we all get so drunk that ned families come out purely to mock us for being so drunk, as we're all sprawled pissed around weedge town centre.
NOW THAT... would be a new years eve.

why ?

hmm... maybe there is something about my town and those stupid parties. nye is same night as any other nights but much more crowded, forced with lot's of drinking and eating. so the quantity is high and the guality low. i also hate the hugging and kissing with everyone when the drakula time comes (midnight) :-/

maybe i should try to have nye in some other town, for a change.

Loz
13th November 2004, 20:00
12:02 on New Year's Day always amuses me. Everyone's just gone around hugging and kissing people, cheering and all that jazz. Then they suddenly realise that basically that is the climax of their evening. There is that moment when everyone is "what shall we do now?"

V Knid esq
13th November 2004, 20:03
I don't really like NYE much, it's ok sometimes... I was very jealous hearing about my mate Cagey, who is a consummate party DJ, getting to start a DJ set at midnight on NYE 2000 playing to 5000-odd people in the centre of the town where he lived in Devon... he played Fools Gold on the dot of midnight and saw the whole all-ages crowd go mental and start dancing simultaneously. Gotta be a good feeling.

emef
14th November 2004, 01:53
yeah... i'm jealous of your dj mate too then... its kindof a (dj-ing stoopid records dream) of mine to be in charge of the night at midnight on nye, and get to play proper nye silly party music, like in the olden days before evil dance music came along, and now all serious techno djs must ignore midnight with a vengeance and make it 'no big fucking deal'
that really pisses me off about midnight on nye nowadays, when it goes by and the wanker djing, does... and says... fuck all!!!!
midnight is totally lost in techno clubs

oops turned into a bit of a rant there.

Loz
14th November 2004, 11:00
last year at Haywire Andy Weatherall stopped the music for a minute or two at midnight
