the place you are going is one of the remotest and nicest parts of scotland, especially if you like hillwalking. mountains around torridon are very beautiful. it would probably take you about 4-5 hours to drive to glasgow from there, so if i were you i would just stay in the highlands and enjoy the scenery and fresh air, forget about going to cities. also go across to skye. maybe take the ferry from uig across to lewis and harris where there are fewer tourists. make sure you have some insect repellant - this is very important in the highlands in the summer, believe me - citronella is the most effective one and least unpleasant to use. maybe get one of those hats with a net that covers your face.

if you don't like outdoor stuff (then why are you going there..?), and are determined to visit cities - edinburgh is the best one for impressing tourists. glasgow has better nightlife, but isn't very pretty.

Funny,
I am planning on being in Scotland at about the same time. (Aug 02).. ..
Any "live" electronic acts to look out for? I mean working with laptops and musicians?
Aren't Boards of Canada from Scotland? Any of you dig them?

CHEERS,
FORMAT

Thank you very much! Is there anything regular going on in Edinburgh (club events etc). I have no idea what's actually on there apart from the FRINGE of course but I assume that doesn't interest us very much?

Cheers
