they what? dropped VST? Impossible, as for OS X even having a VST folder in it's core. If this is true, holy shit, then this must be the most stupid combination of OS & App ever....

there aren't many carbon vst plugins anyway, and apparently its trivial (less than a days work) to port them to audio unit format with a free SDK. allegedly.

the lack of carbonised VSTs is more of a problem.

and did you see their ridiculous crossgrade hardware rebate offer? .... it's just that, ridiculous as you can buy the machines from Apple direct only where they are Eur 400 more than in other shops anyway, so that lousy 250 $ discount is kinda embarassing.
