hmm stuttgart... better than munich (more expensive) but here in stuggi it's not cheap to live. direcly stuttgart is more expensive than many people could pay... you normally search a half year for a apartment in stuttgart-city, and if you looking into a apartment, there are other 50-100 people who wants it too...
my girlfriend lived in stuttgart for 2 years, she only got old houses who were in a bad condition. i lived 45minutes outside stuttgart in a small village... now we have 20min to drive and here it's cheaper and better to live than in the big city...
if you really want to join stuttgart for a while, search for a home a little bit outside stuttgart. we do have bus, train, and many highways (don't know if it's the right name for it... the streets where you could drive 120kmh) stuttgart is a nice place to live, but you should check it yourself when you are here for maybe holiday for one or two weeks... or ask daniel benavente for a live-set at neue heimat. (the club is the only really good club here which plays good music...)
cheers,
sven

hej, thanx for the tip... just earlier today i´ve placed a order at www.humpty-stuttgart.de and got the impression of a good recordstore and tought it might be the best online record store in germany and there for i tought it seems like a cool city to live in...
but i don´t know what other cities in germany have to offer people in the techno scene. berlin sounds good to, but that just sounds more exspensive then stuttgart.
Munich: nja, aren´t there to many Gigolo techno people with 80´s haircuts ? ... have got a clue =)

@tsr
dunno, there's a pretty cool underground scene there, cynthia stern should know some peeps there as well, the ultraschall usually has a pretty varied lineup too, but it seems to be the only consistenly good club, and it's closing this year afaik...and echt optimal is a great recordshop as long as you're not being serviced by the owner, that asshole greek guy...

if you want move to germany for a year or so i would recommend you berlin as there are lots of clubs (even if tresor&ostgut are going to close the doors :( ) and lots of recordstores.
i think it is no problem to find an cheap appartment or something like that, but i can't tell you for sure as i don't live there.

@thomas:
humpty rec is a good online store, but not so cheap. i don't know if they sell international, but check web-records.com too... nice prices and they get nearly every new record and you could listen to nearly every track on a record...
berlin may be good, or better than stuttgart, because it's more international, more clubs and stores, even nice to live there... i was there in 1999 for some days, and i would go there maybe next year again, nice city... stuttgart has ca 550000 citizens, berlin over 5 millions...
stuttgart has the neue heimat club (yeah, dave tarrida tonight) but all the other clubs there are not so good for techno-loving people. orange club only plays progressive hard techno, only childs there hehe... and m1 club is only for house and gays, and the others i don't know them... nh forever...
maybe talk to daniel benavente and ask him what's going on in stuttgart, he could tell you more maybe...

@tsr_tomas
why want you leave Stockholm? In my opinion it’s one of the most beautiful cities in the world (nice landscape, intact nature...).
What about the nightlife there? I am receiving the Techstylism newsletter and it’s getting better over there, isn’t it?
If I would have the chance to live in Stockholm I would leave my hometown Frankfurt…
Perhaps my image of Stockholm is a little bit wrong because I wasn’t there longer than one week.
My goal is, when I’m older than 40, to live in Scandinavia

@wired&brainard: a friend of mine moved to stuttgart just some days ago, so he doesn't know the city in detail yet. hasn't stuttgart got a lot of good museums and cultural stuff (apart from the techno stuff)? i had 10 minutes in front of the Neue Staatsgalerie and the buliding was quite impressing (well, or expressive?). Then Harald Schmitt told yesterday on his latenight show, that S. got also a good actor-school (don't know if thats the right term. "Schauspielschule"), and they have also a good design-school. I was also impressed by the high niveau of arctitecture everywhere. i couldn't beleive my eye. even the simplest house was quite interesting. seems that stuttgart is a quite preatty place for cultural interested people... what would you say with years of living experience there. is it real or is it just a picture?
@tsr: jes. berlin is kinda another contry. it's the only city that is really big, where you can spent 3 days - 1 week in only walking straight on. the media supports always pictures of the fast moving, never sleeping city. but i heard people from paris, NY and london london saying about berlin (in the media as well...), that this city is a metropolitan area, bus still have this relaxed beat of a typical german city. well, it's up to you. i kÃ*nda love most cities here, exept the one i live in.. :[

yep, scandinavia is nice.....i love nature....forests,lakes,animal s a.s.o...
living in da woods where the next neighbour is living some km's away.no stress no hectic life.
i would like to live there when i am grown up for a couple of years.
great to go fishing !!!!

Tomoki/Jukka - you´re right. I have the same feeling. Not planning to end my days in Copenhagen... I want to breath and feel less stressed! Want my own house with a great garten, nice neighbors, a dog, a car, a life... wife, kids... and stuff... (standard life, huh??)
When you´re young it´s okay to live in a big city - but when I watch old (very old) people trying to make out a day here, I roll with my eyes.. WHY!???? People like them must love to see the nature or just meet other old people and celebrate their freedom???!
crazy..

tsr_tomas; wouldn't you need some kind of "green card" to move to germany?
or is it easier for european people to move to and from other european countries?
I was also thinking of moving to berlin or some other nice european metropolis.
my only concern is the language barrier. all though I would love to learn a foreign language like german or the such, my grasp on other languages is a bit low.
4 years of spanish and latin in high school and I dont remember any of it.

well I lived in the foresty area of finland for a bit and I really couldn't get anything out of it, it's nice for a weekend if you have enough dope and friends along, but otherwise, nah...
I know that you settle down some when you get older, but I don't ever see myself in a canadian lumberjack outfit chopping wood to keep me warm coz it's -40 degrees outside ;)

go to berlin,
you wouldnt leave again...so soon:)
yeah berlin is the strangest town here, no. 2 is hamburg i think...
youll get to know a lot of freaks in berlin, its a very creative scene ,because there are livin lots of "vokuhilas" from the eastern germany there!

@wheezer: i know what you mean... my parents are from finland, but do speak the language =( but anyway, i´ve spent alot of summers and a few winters in the northforestes of finland, stright east from Rovajneimi. darn it´s cold in the winter and 2meters of snow, uh uhh.. i would live in the southern parts of finland if where to kick back when i´m 40 (but i think i will do a rock n roll kill of my self in hollywood when i´m 40).
@sheridan: hmm, don´t think soo. we scandinavians are so darn nice and help´s other cuntries with in the EU. the only thing we have to think about is to have a passport because of the "chengen" (don´t know the english word for it) but chengen is a easier way for goverments to check up on people and see where they come from a.s.o. they use it mostly to find ForenFudgetives and people that have Escaped from a land in war.
@all you other: if you choose to retire in scandinavia you really should think about the west part of sweden or the east part of norway... it´s soon darn nice there. can´t imagen anything more relaxing place in scandinavia. mountins, quiet and lot´s of fish in the lakes...
ooh, Berlin sounds nice. have to see it again soon and have a look =) "Berlin - The City of lot´s of stuff"

A very good friend of mine moved to Stuttgart because of a new job. Off course i was there some times to spend a weekend with him and my other mates, check out the Heimat and my favourite Record Store now, Humptys!
Its a very nice city, with its big castel in the middle of the city and and hills all around. Stuttgart has almost so many sunny days like Barcelona!
I made the experience that the most people there are very friendly and open-minded....but who knows
But its quite expensive there to live. Everything is more high priced than in northern Germany.
Hmmm Berlin....yeah, its a fucking big city! Nearly 45km wide! Its definite a multi-culturel metropolis with an anonymous living.
A lot of clubs and bars...you can go out every day!
But its not a nice city...maybee some places.
cheers

actually, sweden ain't that expensive, it's mostly stockholm really.. but the price for alcohol is the same throughout the land, so
A. Live in Malmö, and get alcohol in Copenhagen (ah... Sort Guld)
B. Live in Lule, and make moonshine
C. Go straight edge (vegans, who don't drink or use other drugs, are straight edge, and have painted "X" on their hands)
But of course you shouldn't leave Stockholm; you know you shouldn't :)

Then the question arose; 'what's he [tsr_tomas] talking about?'
And the alternatives were:
A. Had Tomas been up too long, or
B. Did he forget to log out while using my computer?
8-()
(hint: it's not A)
(if I'm unclear - what I mean to write is that I wrote the reply, not him)
