the jungle book was my favourite.

my first lp was depeche mode- construction time again. think i was around 9 at this time and i had to use my moms player to record it on tape because i only had a cassette recorder. but everything counts :)

xtc - drums and wires. came the next day effter i bought a turntable with my own earned money. before that, it was "getting" as many tapes as i could. i just pulled a bunch of lps out of the racks at that time (although knowing what i was doing..) and xtc was the one i bought.

That was the first album I actually 'chose' myself, although I didn't actually go out and buy it. I remember I wanted a Dead Kennedys record when I was about 8.. because my cousin was a big fan.. I remember hating it when I actually heard it though ;) (I've seen the light since though, naturally)
First album I actually went into a shop and bought was a Jimi Hendrix compilation, I'd never actually heard any Hendrix either.. so I could have easily bought a Madonna LP or something instead.. Lucky I guess!

i remember the first time we (my brother and i) bought sl-1200's, he thought the pitch bar made the music "sound better" ... it was by sheer accident that he mixed two records together, and ever since than it had become much clearer.

such an awesome album. my favourite side was side 4, despite Genesis. i love every single track on Now 1. strangely, i never bothered with any other Nows.
i think i was bought that for christmas. at the time i was also listening to a lot of KC and the Sunshine Band, Thompson Twins and Tears for Fears. so i think it would have been one of those i bought for myself first.
what year was Now 1 released. christmas 1983/4?

& Mc. Hammer on the 2nd.
my first CD was some kinda gangsta-rap compilation... with Ice T, Onyx, Cypress Hill, House Of Pain, etc....
and my first on vinyl was... mmmm.... I don remember which one was earlier... DJ Slip's "Slipotika" or the Dave Clarke's "Different Seasons".........

i always recorded radio to tape when i was young or got records as gifts, so i assume my first buy was chicane - offshore. still a great tune i think.
oh and my first vinyl was ilsa gold - up!
(maybe i dispel my memory of buying some blue system album when i was veeery young.. ;-) )

i was a prodigious home taper. starting with parents eurythmics, bowie and beatles records before moving onto taping radio shows fairly religiously. i don't think i actually shelled out any money for music until i was 12-13 when i bought a Dinosaur Jr CD off my friend Dave.

The first record album I bought was the compilation of tracks picked by Hardfloor for !K7. The first proper album I ever bought was... Erm I don't remember, it would have probably been something like misc dance tracks from the past compilation volume 32 or such similair. Definately not a Now album though as I never bought any of them, just got them as gifts at holidays.

then thankfully i discovered autechre, aphex and warp
then hard techno (beyer et al)
then finally the wonky styles
actually i really want to listen to utah saints now. i wonder if i still have it? there's a great cj bolland mix on one of their singles
