I think this book deserves its own thread outside the reading thread because IT'S JUST GOOD. Best book about music and perception I've read, anyway. A lot less poetic and a lot more understandable than his previous books.

only a slight tangent here:
...coming over to London in 2 weeks and as usual intending to stock up on reading matter. What's a good address in London to find this kind of thing - literature on 'pop' music (Toop, but also Dan Sicko, Lawrence's "Love Saves the Day", etc.).

I'm reading it at the moment.
It's a good read, despite his excursions into personal discourse which are quite similar to Iain Sinclair. Both I think are trying to do the same thing, mapping out their world, and more often than not doing a great job of it, but the problem is that their worlds are often just too dense for others to make out.

Most good bookshops like Blackwells or Foyles will have them. The latter in particular is a superb read. Highly recommended.
