and why the hell nobody ever cares if the same happens in let's say bangladesh?! in german newspapers this is usually worth 3 lines. somehow it's good it happend to central europe, so maybe something is going to change now.

@alex... but you should think about... here in germany it's not normal with these floods, and the reason is that they changed the river's, damaged the nature...
in bangladesh there are floods nearly every year, the reason is that the people there live in a land which normally is floodland... it's near the sea, and it's only -5 - +10m high, and so every storm flood could damage the whole land...
ok, it's bad in every way... but everytime it's different if a catastrophy is far away or in front of your door?
i know some peoples from magdeburg, leipzig, dresden and linz, and some of them couldn't be at the internet the last days and so i think they got involved too...

also in asia it's getting worse. and everytime it's getting harder to start anew. without money these states can't build buildings that may resist floods or storms that may be related to global industrialisation. let alone to invest into ecologic projects to improve the overall circumstances. and i'm not only worried about bangladesh. almost all of america and south east asia is affected. and only cos it's not in front of my door doesn't mean i shouldn't be interested too much. right now i live in south spain and desertification is definitely a topic down here. it makes me sick that almost everybody knows about all those catastrophies to come but almost nobody ever cares and thinks about the use of water and electricity or the useless production of waste.

oh yes it is realy hard to believe the pictures.
i think alex is right with his words. now everyone in germany knows the real meening of natural power and to be affected from natural power. now we have to see the natural disasters in other countries with other eyes.
anyway, it's hard to see the east of germany in this situation, after they had maybe a little hope for an upward movement of everything.
