'Angus' in the light Angus V1.0' , a realtime digital instrument conceived as a means of creating a live interactive music score for Gilles Jobin's new dance piece, 'Steak House'.
Built into a 50's Siemens Tube radio, it had to be stripped and gutted - Simon did this in Geneva in a freezing cold workshop, whilst we listened to punk.
This is what circuits looked like before the invention of the printed circuit board. We kept the original bakelite switches, which Simon managed to wire into the modern digital controller circuits.
A hacked Kenton 'control freak' provides a quickly programmable and reliable controller circuit for the custom switches and pots. The knobs I sourced on ebay in Canada - they were recovered from a 60s broadcast desk.
The G2 Modular DSP engine and the Kenton controller circuit inside Angus. Everything is bolted into the case and the original frame.
Under the lid, a Vestax portable turntable, which is routed directly into the G2 engine.
First, a pose with Angus, and now to program the beast. Many thanks again to Simon Jobin for doing all the soldering and mounting.
